Mary-Therese Blair aka MermaidMary – Wine adventuress, organics advocate and passionate New Zealander.

Irish by birth and Kiwi by luck. I’ve always had a keen interest in wine. Moving to New Zealand in 2007, took this interest to whole new level. The diverse range of varietals from this stunning country blew my mind.

There was no going back…

Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) qualified and enthusiastic to share the knowledge I am learning every day about wine.

I am equally passionately adverse to wine wank…

Never wanting to be described as an oenophile, my passion is to spread the word of great wines while making wine accessible and encourage wine types to stop using alienating wine speak that confuses people – like oenophile.

Wine is to be savoured, enjoyed and goes best with wonderful company.

When I'm not drinking wine, I'm writing about wine for Cuisine Magazine, NZ House and Garden and other great publications as well as hosting and MCing events. My spare time is devoted to my husband and son as well as hunting down the perfect spot to enjoy a great cocktail and occasionally gardening.

“Age is just a number. It’s totally irrelevant unless, of course, you happen to be a bottle of wine.”
