Mary-Therese Kinsella aka MermaidMary – Wine Enthusiast and Imbiber….

Irish by birth and Kiwi by pure good luck. With a background in hospitality in Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, I have always had a keen interest in wine. Moving to the promised land of New Zealand in 2007 however, took this interest to whole new level. The diverse range of varietals and flavours from a stunning small country at the end of the world truly blew my mind. There was no going back…

Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) qualified and always enthusiastic to share the knowledge I am learning every day about the fascinating subject that is wine, I am, however, equally passionately adverse to wine wank…

Never wanting to be described as an Oenophile, my true passion is to spread the word of great wines while making wine accessible and encourage wine types to stop using alienating wine speak that confuses people – like Oenophile.

Wine is to be savoured, enjoyed and goes best with wonderful company.

When I'm not drinking wine, I'm recommending it on the RadioLIVE long lunch, writing about wine, hunting for the best spots to enjoy a great cocktail, hanging out at the beach (Mermaid style), finding a hill to hike, cooking or spending time with friends.

“Age is just a number. It’s totally irrelevant unless, of course, you happen to be a bottle of wine.”
— Joan Collins
